How long will GW last?
I bought prophecies about a week ago and I think it is an amazing mmorpg, definetly the best I've played, and I've played a lot including WoW. Although theres one thing about GW which makes me doubt the game, like all the other mmorpg's I've played after a while when u reach max lvl and do all the quests, the game gets insanely boring and you stop playing, I'm especialy worried about this happening in GW because of the lvl cap that is a perfetic lvl 20, I've been playing a week and I'm already lvl 11 it just seems like I'm soon gunna reach lvl 20 and the games going to get boring, I was told before I bought it that gw is 'never ending' I don't see how this is true with such a small level cap, I want to continue playing the marvelous game for a long time but it dosent look like that will happen. please can you clever people tell me if this will happen or if there is life past lvl 20?
Kind Regards |

This has been asked a million times before, pls search. For the short answer - you're supposed to make lvl 20 fairly fast - the game just gets started at that point.

Life past lvl 20 would be GW:EN Most of factions has lvl 20 content.
you could -pvp -get titles -get 15k armor -farm i have played for 2 years and there is plenty to do in the 3 games at lvl 20 |

A game doesn't end with levels. There's three campaigns to go through. And even at level 20, you'll struggle unless you're a highly skilled/intelligent team. Then there's the expansion coming out and then Guild Wars 2...

Yeah, basically the game gets started at level 20. Everything before that is really a tutorial. Its not a typical RPG.

in Nightfall it is almost the same, there is a single mission at the end of the beginner island that shows you how the rest will be like (level 20 content) and Nightfall further pushes the limit of a fully competent team of lvl 20 players with the Realm of Torment. In Prophecies (as you said you have purchased) Basically all the content up to the Crystal Desert where you ascend is like training. Once you Ascend the content afterwards will test you to fully make use of the info you took in up to that point. As for things you can do: 1.) There is nothing stopping you from finishing the game on your max level character. 2.) Finish all quests (nearly impossible, especially if you own more than 1 campaign) 3.) Hard Mode. One of the most challenging aspects newly added to GW, allows you to fight in the low level areas with a greatly increased difficulty but with higher rewards. 4.) Titles (as said) 5.) PvP (as said....PvP and Titles can also go hand in hand and create an almost unreachable personal goal...like getting to Rank 15 in HoH) 6.) 15k Armors, perfecting your items, making your own weapons etc. 7.) Explore (even though it is linked to a title, i never thought about it as a title goal, since there are just TOO MANY wonderful places you can find when you go around the unbeaten path) 8.) A Goal that I try and get everyone who says this to do is: Max your level, explore to Grenth's Footprint and Deldrimor Warcamp, and complete all the Sorrow's Furnace quests, including Final Assault. I have done this quest 8 times and have fun every time, because it combines everything you need: - Difficulty - Intelligence and problem solving - Ability to explore - Great sights - Good drops - Is a completely re-completable quest - Satisfying ending There are plenty of other things you can set out for you to do. And although it may seem that leveling is easy and you are already level 11, you will find it takes a little longer when you reach level 14-15 and doesn't go quite as quickly as it seems. Life in GW goes far beyond level limits. |

Essentially, Guild Wars is a single level game, with a single tier of equipment. Everything before that is pretty much some sort of a tutorial.
The difference is what skills you have access to, but it is not that hard to acquire all the skills you want. Perhaps a bit more tedious to collect every single skill available. Equipment are essentially the same tier, but can be configured in different ways for different purposes. Warriors may end up with 3 sets of armour, and 9 sets of weapons, or more. Some upgrades are more sought after, so more expensive. What is different is playing skill. Play against an experienced player, same skillbar, same equipment, and you're still likely to take a drubbing. The long farms come in when you want to look pretty. Pretty weapon skins, pretty armour sets. No gameplay effects at all. What GW beats every other MMO game hands down, is the ease in which you can start a new character and learn a new profession. Learning them improve your skills at your own favourite profession. For PvP, and also for PvE, since 95% of the monsters are governed by the skills of a profession. This is like asking How long is a piece of string.
They have stated they will continue to support GW1 as long as WE keep supporting GW1 by playing. So I can imagine it will go on for a very long time even after GW2 comes out. |

Well take as an indication that all the current players try to get to lvl20 as fast as is humanly possible. People will even pay stupid amounts in in-game-gold just to get someone to power level them.
The game is tedious UNTIL you get to lvl 20, since before that time you are severely limited in your game play. You can only play certain missions, only enter certain areas, and only certain people will accept you into their teams. After lvl20 the whole GW world opens up to you, and it's then that you can start exploring the great experience that is GW. |

Here is what I think about this
I will stop playing GW when they stop making add-ons. wether they be ones you buy or the new areas they might make now and then like sorrows furnace and what not. I can see this happening when GW2 comes out. Just like blizzard neglects the rest of their games when a new one comes out. |

The level cap is low because this is a skillbased game, not a level based game. There is most definitely "life past level 20"...the process of getting to level 20 is pretty much getting to know the game...once you hit level 20, this is where it takes skill, not a higher level. Just because you've reached the level cap doesn't make you "good" in Guild Wars...this is where your "talents" help you, not your level. Not only that, but it opens up so much more of the game to you. Levelling up is so limited, but once you hit level 20 there's so much to do! Work on making builds that you enjoy. Perhaps farm and save up for some nice armour or a title. Work on completing hard mode or some other challenging project. And if PvE doesn't interest you (and even if it does), give PvP a try. There is so much to learn in this game, and the best thing about GW in my opinion is that it is based on your skill and not how high of a level you are.
